TURMEPA 30. Olağan Genel Kurul Toplantısı Yapıldı
The 30th Ordinary General Assembly Meeting of DenizTemiz Derneği / TURMEPA, which was established in 1994 under the founding presidency of Rahmi M. Koç in order to protect the seas and water resources of our country, together with IMEAK Chamber of Shipping, was held on May 23, 2022 at 11:00 am at Koç Holding Conference Hall. The meeting, which was attended by the Founder and Honorary President of the Association, Rahmi M. Koç, and members of the association, started with the opening speech of Şadan Kaptanoğlu, Chairman of the Board of Directors.
Kaptanoğlu evaluated TURMEPA's activities in 2021 and shared current projects and the vision for 2022 with the members: "After 2 difficult years for our world, we have entered a period where we can breathe more easily. Happily, we have left the stormy period behind us and we are now in a safe harbor. In 2021, we accomplished many great things with our team, sponsors, supporters and volunteers to benefit our country and our seas. TURMEPA waste fleet, a first in the world, has grown even more. With our 7 boats, we collected millions of liters of wastewater and prevented it from entering our seas. We reduced our carbon footprint as our online trainings spread all over Turkey and even abroad. In this way, we reached tens of thousands of students and teachers.
Our films reached hundreds of thousands of people on EBA, the Digital Student Education Platform of the Ministry of National Education. We took our place as the only NGO in the Marmara Sea Protection Action Plan Coordination Board established under the leadership of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change to solve the problem of mucilage. We pressed the button for the Blue Breath project in order to save the Marmara Sea and restore it to its good old days. We signed a three-year collaboration with Garanti BBVA. We achieved great success in the first year of the project, and we will continue our route and trainings in the next two years.
We had a good start in 2022 and we expect it to continue in the same way. Our 7 waste collection fleet is growing even more. With the support of FORD, we will increase the number of boats to 8. After rapidly completing our institutionalization following our regulation, we now have important initiatives for technology, new needs and new projects. We will undertake interdisciplinary projects in cooperation with NGOs, universities and the private sector." Kaptanoğlu continued his speech by thanking the entire board of directors, members, TURMEPA employees, sponsors and supporters for their support, and presented a plaque to Recep Baştuğ, CEO of Garanti BBVA, who had recently joined the association and supported them in realizing the biggest project of this year.
Then the activities and budget for 2021 were presented by Semiha Öztürk, Secretary General of the association. The 2021 management and supervisory board reports were unanimously approved. For 2021, the boards of directors and supervisory boards were discharged and the activity program and budget for 2021 were also approved. Then the first five months activities of the association for 2022 and the budget for 2022 were presented to the members and approved unanimously.
Afterwards, the Regulation on the Operation of Branches and Representative Offices prepared by the Board of Directors, which was authorized at the General Assembly held in 2021, was approved by a majority of votes.
