On June 8, Marmara Sea Day, TURMEPA supported this year as well
As TURMEPA, we supported the Marmara Sea Day on June 8, which was celebrated for the second time under the coordination of the Union of Marmara Municipalities within the scope of the Marmara Sea Protection Action Plan. As in the previous year, we flocked to the coasts with our volunteers for the Marmara Sea Day. Our volunteers, employees of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and its subsidiaries, and citizens in the region where the events were held participated in our 3 coastal cleaning activities we organized in Moda Beach, Menekşe Beach and Kınalıada in cooperation with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. Our 58 volunteers removed 208 kg of waste from the seas during the simultaneous events.
We will continue to work with the same energy to protect and restore the Marmara Sea, which has suffered significant biodiversity loss due to intense population pressure, diffuse and point pollution, and climate change.
