Şadan Kaptanoğlu continues his official contacts with BIMCO management delegation
Our Chairman of the Board of Directors Şadan Kaptanoğlu, together with the Baltic and International Maritime Council (BIMCO) management delegation, continues his official contacts with senior executives of the maritime industry in the international arena. During the visits of Nikolaus H. Schües, who assumed the presidency of BIMCO at the last general assembly meeting held in Hong Kong, together with Past Presidents Şadan Kaptanoğlu and Sabrina Chao, the issues of decarbonization, digitalization and optimization of the sector are primarily discussed. The acceleration of efforts to protect the environment and the seas, which Kaptanoğlu initiated during his term as President of BIMCO and brought to the focus of the council, continues to shape the future of the maritime industry. President Schüs states that he will make protecting the seas and the industry a priority in his term as well: "At a time when the task of decarbonizing our industry is becoming increasingly urgent, I am honored to be elected President of an organization that represents more than 60 percent of the world's tonnage. The shipping industry is responsible for carrying nearly 90 percent of world trade, and one of BIMCO's most important roles is to support the industry so that we can decarbonize global trade without disruption."
