On June 5, World Environment Day, Children Sent a Message Against the Climate Crisis
TURMEPA and @cartoonnetworkturkiye organized a special event to raise children's awareness on climate change as part of World Environment Day on June 5th. The event started with the opening of the 13th Underwater Waste Exhibition (SAS) at TURMEPA's headquarters in Nakkaştepe and ended with a coastal cleanup in Gelara Bay in Riva. 20 children, who received training on zero waste, climate change and marine protection at SAS, collected 33 kg of waste in an hour during the event in Riva. The children, who called for "Be a Climate Protector" in the fight against the climate crisis, drew attention to the importance of the seas by saying "If There is Sea, There is Life!".
13th Underwater Waste Exhibition and Training Workshop

At the opening ceremony organized with Cartoon Network, students had the opportunity to examine various wastes from Turkey's seas and learned about marine pollution, climate change and its consequences, Sustainable Development Goals and their individual responsibilities. After the training, the children learned about ways to minimize waste by having fun with the Zero Waste game on the interactive board in TURMEPA garden.
